This was my favorite story as a kid… it’s beautiful. I just wish this had the same illustrations as the book.
My father just gave me an old Shoshone fetish.
It belonged to my great grandmother who made it by hand. An Indian fetish is a spiritual protector… it’s beautiful. This one is a tiny leather and beaded doll, and inside of her is a falcon foot. It’s talons poke out from the bottom, ensuring protection and defense against bad spirits. I’m completely honored… It’s funny how something like that brings you back to...
